Russian songs of the World War II
Today marks 75 years from the end of World War II. In Russia traditionally this is the day to celebrate peace, congratulate the veterans and remember those who did not return.
Music played a special role in lifting people's spirit during the years of the war and long after it - from Shostakovich's "Leningrad" symphony to a wealth of songs dedicated to life, struggles, losses of those times, hopes and the joy of the day when the war was finally over. Listen to the recital by Dmitri Hvorostovsky and the Russian Army Choir and Orchestra dedicated to these songs (09.05.2015, Moscow)
