Lecture-Recital today at Sydney Conservatorium of Music
I will be talking about the role of the piano in Rachmaninoff's art songs as well as the cultural context of the songs. Also David and I will perform a selection of five songs ranging from the very first set (opus N4) to the very last (opus N38): Oh, Never Sing For Me Again (Op. 4 N4, 1892-93) The Soldier’s Wife’s Song (Op. 8 N4, 1893) Spring Waters (Op. 14 N11, 1896) How Fair Is The Spot (Op. 21 N7, 1902) The Dream (Op.38 N 5, 1916)
